Hindustan Insecticides Limited (HIL) is a dynamic production facility installed by the Government of India in 1954. The purpose for setting up HIL was to ingeniously produce DDT (Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane) Fertilizers so as to escape the penance of importing the fertilizers from European Nations. Over the years, this small enterprise which was established under the Ministry of Fertilizers and Chemicals brewed and became the largest producer of DDT in the world and also extended the production business towards making Herbicides, Fungicides, Pesticides and other fertilizers for both domestic uses and export purposes.
